This retrospective chart review looked at patients admitted to the Medical and Surgical Intensive Care units at The University Hospital of Cincinnati. Data was collected over a seven-month period beginning November 1, 2003 through May 30, 2004. Specific parameters that were identified and studied during each patient's hospital course were condensed to patients with preexisting cardiovascular and central nervous system histories.
